Climate change is a potential consequence of global warming. We can see the ice caps are melting more than we have seen them melt before. Even with our short lives, we know that we are experiencing quite different weather than our parents had.
The trouble is that our experiences do not prove anything, except that the global climate of planet Earth is continually undergoing change. Some people seem to believe that the climates of countries around the world have never changed until now!!
In the UK for example, the river Thames at London was frozen solid during the winters in the 1890s. People rode elephants across the ice to show how thick and solid the ice was. The Thames does not freeze over in the winter now! But go back a bit further in history to the 1500s and the UK was a prolific wine producer. We have many streets named after this industry, I have seen quite a few 'Vine Streets' for example.
The climate in the UK changed over 500 years without anthropogenic gases being released into the atmosphere!
There is no doubt that our global climate is changing. But the global climate would appear to always have been in a state of change!
Ice core samples show previous ice ages which were not caused by human activities! Is it really scientifically accurate to assume that all changes in Earth's weather patterns are the result of mankinds activities?
However these changes in our global climate appear likely to cause problems for populations around the planet and we should understand and address these issues.
